Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall

Did you finish that sentence in your head? I know I did. I also took a hard look at the Queen who spoke those words into a mirror with no reflection, therefore no self-image. She operated from a place of vanity, self-deception, and insecurity. She worshipped the things of the world, which in the end caused her to falter. She functioned in conceit, arrogance, and superiority, seeking money, power, control, and lasting beauty. Under her hard exterior, she lived in fear and was a slave to her desires, which were never satisfied. There was never enough for her, and that is where the enemy likes to keep us—in the valley of never enough! I am using the Queen as an example because too many of us go after the wrong things in life and miss out on what God has for us.

Psalms 119:37 encourages us, “Turn my eyes away from worthless things, preserve my life according to Your word.” The enemy loves when we focus on self, looking into the mirror and only caring about what we want, judging, and disregarding others in the process. He keeps us busy going after the next best thing according to the world, which separates us from our God-given future. The enemy will also taunt us, saying that we are not smart enough, pretty enough, worthy, or loved. All the time trying to isolate us so we fall into a state of despair, losing any fraction of peace we might have had. Now is the time to BREAK the mirror and say, “I have had ENOUGH.” God’s promises are not fleeting; they are forever. He does not promise it will be easy; what He does promise is that He will not leave us or forsake us. Do not let the things of this world hold you hostage, causing you to always want more and feel like you never have enough. That type of life is a life of conflict and control. It is exhausting! Surrendering to Jesus is a life with love, hope, peace, mercy, and forgiveness. Again, His road is not easy, but it is everlasting and filled with love. Let me leave you with a poem that God gave me for women:

WOMAN

Oh woman, oh woman what do you see, an ordinary girl looking back at Me.

Oh woman, oh woman what do I see, My reflection shining out from thee.

You are a light to this world of unbelief and despair, have faith in

Yourself knowing that I will always be there. Be the salt that I have

Called you to be, making others thirsty to hear about Me. Give thanks

Each day to the Father above, knowing that His son died for your sins

And your love. Oh woman, oh woman what do you see, the

Glory of God coming from thee.

God bless, and know that you are prayed for!
